- Posted by the club’s webmaster on 28th September The club was informed, earlier today, of the funeral arrangements for Margery Bates. The media editor Ian Law will also circulate these arrangemets, via e-mail, to all club members.
Margery aged 78 years and from Shavington passed away peacefully in the devoted care of staff at Corbrook Park Care Home. Margery had many local friends, particularly in the Guiding community.
Her funeral service will take place at Shavington Methodist Church on Tuesday 6th October at 12.30pm. Mourners are invited to wear Trefoil / Guiding wear or to include red / blue in their attire.
Donations welcome in lieu of flowers for Cancer Research UK and Dementia UK.

- Posted 23rd August 2026 on behalf of the media editor, Ian Law. It is with the sadest of news that I have to report the passing, yesterday, 22nd August, of Margery Bates. Marge was a long standing member of the Club and was the owner of NB Esther.
She was the Club’s “Licencing Officer” back in the day when we used to pay our CRT Fees by cheque to Marge and she would pay them on our behalf to CRT and get a 5% discount for the Club.

- Posted by the webmaster 14th July 2026: Members who are considering changing their boat and require a mooring for their new boat at the club must complete this Change of Boat Form to comply with the club’s Byelaws and Mooring Conditions. Please be aware that if your boat is a different construction from your current boat e.g. from GRP to steel or is a different length, the club might be unable to accomodate your new boat until a suitable mooring becomes available.

Good evening, We have had a fire extinguisher company at the Club today and they have condemned all of our fire extinguishers. They did a thorough check of the Club’s buildings and we will have to have a complete fire risk assessment of the club done, which Chris is going to organise. Please be aware that members cannot store oil, petrol, diesel, turpentine or white spirit etc. in the Club’s sheds or on the Club grounds. It is the individual member’s responsibility to remove these items from the Club’s premises. Please can you ensure that you comply with this request. Best wishes Ian Law (Media Editor)
- Posted 29th March 2026 : Our Commodore, Jeanette, has left in the signing in hut, a brief welcome note and a Club keyring for your boat. It is labelled to the name of your boat and has been left for you to collect because it can’t be safely left on your boat. Any queries then please contact Jeanette.
